We don't need anymore nanny state telling us what to do. The more tax money the feds take, the more they spend. Heck, it isn't their money so they don't give a rip how it is wasted. We don't have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. Less government is for winners. Losers want more government.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13164186.post-55631333765018640692008-08-23T21:13:00.000-04:002008-08-23T21:13:00.000-04:00It appears democrats would prefer to have a homele...It appears democrats would prefer to have a homeless loser running for president. I make about 150K a year putting me in one of those upper income "rich" brackets.

If I lived in say Des Moines, Iowa and made my salary, you could afford a huge house, a very nice car, and plenty of stuff. Out there, you really could say I was rich because the cost of living is soooo cheap.

By contrast, I live in one of the more expensive cities in the US. Here my salary allows me to own a 1200sf house, drive a 10 year old car, and have one indulgence a 14 year old 17foot boat affectionately known as the "POS". Yet despite this, I pay just as many taxes as I do if I made the same amount in Iowa???

Dont get me wrong, I know I am fortunate to make as much as I do - believe me. My only point is the govt taxes me the same whether I can live a comfortable life here, or an extravagant live in Des Moines.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13164186.post-88239921837335359142008-08-22T06:54:00.000-04:002008-08-22T06:54:00.000-04:00McCain's absurd $5 million per year claim appears ...McCain's absurd $5 million per year claim appears to have been a joke.

I was watching and it was a joke.

Nice delivery and pacing too. McCain's absurd $5 million per year claim appears to have been a joke. Unfortunately, when politicians make jokes—as McCain often does—their opponents hold it against them. This results in most politicians having a stick up their ass.

I didn't watch it, but from reading an L.A. Times article, it looks as if both Obama and McCain defined "rich" in terms of income, rather than wealth. Income is what you earn during a given period of time; wealth is how much you have at a given period of time. I would have defined "rich" in terms of wealth.

Terms used by the financial industry to define wealth are as follows, excluding the value of one's primary residence:

Affluent: $100,000-$1,000,000
High net worth: $1,000,000+
Very high net worth: $5,000,000+
Ultra high net worth: $30,000,000+Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15243567377599238583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13164186.post-54407734380859236382008-08-21T17:28:00.000-04:002008-08-21T17:28:00.000-04:00"Quick.
