Is More Regulation Really the Answer?

David Brooks points out the flaws of assuming more regulation is the answer to America's financial crisis.

  1. That article brings up some very interesting points. What does the repeal of the Glass-Stegal Act have to do with the current crisis? I have not heard an actual explanation linking the two, just vigorous assertion.

    More importantly, the more regulation argument ignores the global nature of the housing bubble. Just wait until Canada and Europe start having real problems because of their housing bubbles. They have more regulation on their banks. It isn't helping them.
