McMansion Watch: Foreclosed McMansion

This lovely foreclosed "rehab only" home, located in Springfield, Virginia, can be yours for only $425,000. Car not included.

Also, this former McMansion Watch beauty is still for sale a month-and-a-half later, despite the free Bubble Meter advertising. It's a better deal now, since the price has been dropped by $45,000.

  1. A McMansion with a 1-car garage? Haha - sounds like someone screwed up.

  3. Definitely not the worst Ive seen. Still, this place is certainly lacking in curb appeal...

  4. James what does "rehab only" mean. It looks like the place was built in 2007. Did the old owners trash it so it now needs rehab? Or do you think they didnt finish it before they went under?

Just curious as to your thoughts.

I don't know, but it suggests the buyer better enjoy fixing stuff. I can't imagine that someone who can afford a McMansion would be so immature as to trash the place (but I guess they went into foreclosure because they couldn't afford it).

  6. It's sad to see these foreclosures happen to good people. Hopefully Obama will put a stop to foreclosures. These homeowners are the soul of America. I'd like to see a tax on renters to help save these homeowners! Renters don't pay enough to carry their weight in this country.

  7. Like the anon about, I am going to assume that "rehb only" means the owners in an effort to get back at others for their own failings trashed the place on their way out. An impression encouraged by the fact that there is only a photograph of the front of the house and no interior shots and the anemic blurb.

The "hurry won't last long" must be a macro the realtor set up during the boom times.

That house was build in 2007 - it has the look of a house built in the early 1990's.

  10. Yeah!

Fry the renters. I agree. They don't pay enough, what with their lack of tax deductions. They should pay double taxes. Also, old people. They don't pay enough - especially those free-loading social security recipients. And kids. Those lazy brats need to get into a sweatshop, but something quick. And the funny-smelling foreigners. And Republicans. They should pay more. Oh, can't forget the stinkin' Libertarians.

I'll think of some more people to gouge for my next post. Maybe poor people, or homeless.

    Stinkin' freeloaders.

  11. let all these people lose these homes!! they should have NEVER been "homeowners" (term used very Loosely!) to begin with...the sooner we clear the market of all the junk, the sooner we can return to normal

  12. "let all these people lose these homes!! they should have NEVER been "homeowners""

I agree, it was the scum like this who got us into this trouble in the first place. Its obvious this guy had no ability to afford this place from day 1. What the hell was this idiot thinking?

  13. "What the hell was this idiot thinking?"

    ...He wasn't.

    Or else he was thinking-
of the HELOC moolah he would get and feel like a 30K millionaire
    or he was thinking-
"houses go up in price forever" told tp him from the used house sales people
    or he was thinking-
he could flip this property in a few years and live like a king from the sale price

but to be accurate I stick with my first answer-

    what was he thinking...

    ...He wasn't.

  20. That's really sad for the sellers of this home. They needed a better debt settlement program.
