  • National Association of Realtors is against the proposal to limit the interest tax deduction on home loans where the buyers have a household income of 250,000 or more. Surprise Surprise! The measure makes sense as the government already spends too much money subsidizing housing (especially for the wealthy).

I say get rid of all tax benefits for mortgage interest for everyone or don't change a thing. We need to stop pitting 1 group against another. We have to stop hosing the "rich". It's so Maoist to do so.

While you're at it. we should make mortgages illegal. Make everyone pay cash. Home prices will crash. Housing becomes affordable to anyone who has the discipline to save. NO ONE becoms a debt slave in order to buy a house.

We are subsidizing high income buyer's (who have a mortgage) over high income renters. That is a subsidy.

  4. Prince William County is toast.

Prince William Co. unveils new housing program
    March 8, 2009 - 2:37pm

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) - Prince William County is offering a new program to help people buy foreclosed homes.

Through federal funds, officials have created the Foreclosure Rehabilitation Acquisition Program. They will give new homebuyers financial counseling, homeowner's education and deferred loans for down payments and closing costs.

County housing officials say the program seeks to reduce the number of foreclosed homes in the county.

The homes must be located within certain areas of the county, including parts of Manassas and Manassas Park. But those interested in purchasing do not have to live or work in the county to be eligible.

Officials are planning information sessions about the program through next month.
