The economy is self-correcting. Any money that is spend to bail out banks and irresponsible borrowers is money that could be better used toward other goals. We could use the money to extend unemployment insurance, to help the real victims of an economic downturn. We could use the money to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit to help the working poor lift themselves out of poverty. We could use the money to help improve poor inner-city schools. If you want to help the economy, there are lots of other things we could spend the money on rather than rewarding irresponsible behavior.

The "housing debacle" is the current insanely low housing affordability level, and it has already severely injured our economy. The bailout would augment the injury by delaying the extremely needed correction.

There is another site called Angry Renter that applies to responsible homeowners as well as renters.

  6. This Bailout will ruin the economy, not save it. This establishes a precedent for lenders to guarentee borrowers who have no business getting laon. They can insure anyone as the government will foot the bill. WHO PAYS FOR THE GOVERNMENT?? We do!!
Call your Blue Dog reps who shoukls have voted against this bill and tell them to go against it in the House whne it is finnaly voted on net week:

  7. This will likely pass the senate, so don't bother. Focus on the Blue Dog Democrat Coalition, a group of "fiscally responsible" democrats who, against their own principles on their site voted for the Bailout which will bail the borrowers out up to $300 billion dollars and increase the deficit $22 billion. Call Kristen Hawn, the communications director for the Blue Dog Coalition at 866-887-5841, asking her to tell the Blue Dogs to get with their own program!
