Confused Real Estate Post

This is the most confused Craigslist posting I have seen in a while.

"
$549997 - Capitol Hill Home 5 Blocks from Catholic U in Brooklyn"

There is no DC neighborhood called Brooklyn, they must mean Brookland. Secondly, the house is not a "Capitol Hill Home" as this neighborhood is certainly NOT Capitol Hill or even an adjacent neighborhood. The wrong information in this Craigslist Ad is PATHETIC.

The house is located at 1305 Girard Street NE. MLS #: DC5532344. It is listed at 549K.

  1. Come on David. Sure, the person might not know how to spell Brookland and overstretches when he says Capitol Hill (heck, lots of NE homes north of H St. call themselves Capitol Hill now).

But that's not a bad price for a home in that area. Calling his post pathetic is just plain sad. Envy sure is a bitch.

I can bet this house will be sold somewhere near that price. Its sad that you are browsing CL just to make a negative point.

I'm going to have to award you the "Negative Blogger of the Year" award. Sure, I think the market is overpriced but I ain't hating on people cause they can't spell Brookland and have no idea where their home is.

  2. I think this is more reflective of the pathetic nature of RE ads in general. they seem to average 1+ obvious misspelling per listing. And misleading information about location has been around forever. I mean, what's with selling WV and PA RE in a Montgomery County RE booklet.

  4. well if capitol hill extends all the way to the potomac river, then, ergo, it must extend all the way north to catholic university too.

    brookland...brooklyn...brookville whats the difference?

If the person is selling a property the least they can do is get the neighborhood correct and correclty spelled. This house is not even anywhere near H Street. Calling it a Capitol Hill home is OUTRAGEOUS.

I am not crtizicing the seller on price rather on geographical misinformation.

  7. It is a badly written ad. House looks nice, however. And the price does not seem unreasonable, although I wonder what that neighborhood is like.

  8. Unfortunately, homes in Brookland have been known to sell in the half-million dollar range.
