Housing Developers Using Deceptive Names
Housing developers sometimes use deceptive names and tactics to market housing developments. For example the developers of Capitol Hill Tower are using the name 'Capitol Hill' which is the neighborhood right around the US Capitol. However, Capitol Hill Tower is not located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, but rather is located in the Southeast Waterfront neighborhood.

Come on, now. I think most people would be able to figure out that these condos are not in Capitol Hill.
ReplyDeletetrue. But I still find it slightly deceptive.
ReplyDeleteIn San Francisco the realtors change the names of entire neighborhoods. The gentrifying area of what was known as Western Addition is now Lower Pacific Heights.
ReplyDeleteThat stuff happens out in the burbs too. I grew up in Adelphi, and the local rival town was Langley Park. Downtown Langley Park is very tough these days, so you never see anything advertised as Langley Park... it's all "Silver Spring," which if you believed the realtors, stretches from Adelphi and Takoma Park all the way north to Wheaton.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if i agree about it being decpitive as much as it is confusing. Ultimately buyers will figure this out, but also will be left scratching their heads.
